About the Fundraiser
I am very excited to announce that I will be running the 2019 Falmouth Road Race as part of the Stride for Stride organization. Stride for Stride's core mission is to give everyone the opportunity to run! In this case, Stride for Stride has not only given me a once in a lifetime chance to be accepted to toe the line in Falmouth but with this opportunity, I have the chance to raise funds for such an important and worthwhile cause.
I am a visually impaired runner. I grew up rowing crew with the Worcester Public Schools and had to run as part of the practice and never really enjoyed it. In law school, I didn't have classes on Fridays and lived within a half-mile of the Charles River and began running along it before going to the library as a way to clear my head. Running never really stuck. A few years later and many, many pounds later, I felt unhealthy and unhappy and decided I needed to make a change. In 2016 I signed up for a 10k, which I had trained for and completed in 2015; however, in 2016 I finished 13 minutes slower as I hadn't trained. I decided at that time that I wanted to and could do better. So began my journey!
I can now say that I enjoy running as both a regular past time but also I revel in the chance to compete with friends, colleague, and neighbors in an organized sport. Stride for Stride fills a much-needed gap in the running community as race bibs can be prohibitively expensive. Please help support my journey and the many runners or future runners in and around the Boston community.
