About Animal Rescue League of Boston

For 117 years, the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) has responded to the needs of animals and the people who care about them, by providing outstanding veterinary care, adoption, and rescue services. The ARL also confronts the root causes of animal cruelty and neglect through special police investigation and advocacy aimed at strengthening the laws that protect animals. In 2015, ARL served more than 14,000 animals in need. Today, is ARL increasingly focused on prevention and impacting more animals; keeping them out of shelters and in the communities where they belong. To learn more about ARL’s important work, visit
